I expected spoof, or tongue-in-cheek humor, but this reads like a straightforward survival guide. At first I was disappointed, but then I read it like magical realism, and I liked it well enough for 3 stars.

This is a great 'how to' guide, you know, just in case of zombie attack. I read this as a print book a few years ago and found the opportunity to listen to it this time around. It is a superb example of how one would protect from and be prepared for a zombie apocalypse. Practical, well-thought out, common sense.
A reader could go into it ready to smile their way through nonsense, but the 90% reads as an instruction manual. The other 10% is stories of past zombie attacks through the ages.
Weapons to have on hand, how to get through the first days and later on, food to store, bicycle-propelled generators, guarding from human marauders as much as from zombie hordes.
I liked it even more as an audio book.

It didn't make me laugh out loud, but it was an entertaining read and actually has some practical survival advice, zombie apocalypse or no. Looking forward to World War Z now.

As good as his other stuff, but the visualizations were a little too real for me in some cases.
This was a gift from around the time of my new job and zombie party. I still haven't gotten around to reading it yet, though. I may regret that someday....

Unnerving as hell for me, but then again zombies in general unnerve me. Very detailed art and the historic fiction element really made it more enjoyable for me.
