Not QUITE as awesome as World War Z, but it sets the overall story up beautifully. Oh, and we need to prepare for this eventuality. Get ready and read this book.
Cool book, more of a reference than a novel. Funny parts and good ideas for the zombie apocalypse.
This was excellent. I was late to the zombie-mania. I knew people that watched The Walking Dead and I just thought they were dumb, then I started watching and omg I love Zombies. I admit it. And this survival guide is great, it encounters all the 'what ifs' that you'd think are obvious as well as the not-so obvious. It really gets you thinking, about your strengths and weaknesses, what challenges you'd need to prepare for and how bad a worst case scenario could really be. The realism was spot on for me - I really enjoyed it!
Max Brooks can be like Marmite to some people. Is it because of his popularity? I happen to like his realistic approach to the post-apocalypse. I have this great ability to read books and watch movies like they're entirely true, like nothing else exists but them and I allow myself to be swallowed whole like Jonah in the belly of whatever's up for digestion. So I approached this book almost like a history book, these recorded attacks really did happen over centuries and in different countries and economies and our government and the general public failed to connect the dots - what if this is happening right now and we don't even know it?
You should probably read this, y'know, just in case.
Fantastic companion to Brooks's WWZ follow-up.
