An incredibly thought-provoking book. It has led to some great discussions with colleagues of mine within the healthcare field that will hopefully lead to action.

This book was a perfectly written to describe racism in medicine directly from personal experience from Dr. Blackstock as a student, a patient, a doctor, and as an educator.  I knew these disparities existed, but seeing the specific ways they’re taught and perpetuated gave me a much deeper understanding. Eye-opening, important, and so worth the read.

Perfect weaving of personal stories and experiences with more clinical data. Shines a light onto inequalities that are often overlooked in other books while still being easily digestible without a specific science background.
