THIS WAS SO ADDICTING!! I accidentally burned through this audiobook in less than 48 hours because I literally couldn’t put it down. While this was a fun and wild ride, this is not something I would recommend to just anyone. I’ve included a list of trigger warnings above so look after yourself and make sure you’re in a good headspace before picking this one up. Also, if you’re someone who doesn’t like morally grey (or just downright bad) heroes…then don’t pick this one.
Phoenix was an incredibly flawed human, and honestly just a downright bad guy at times. I’ll keep this spoiler free, but it was really hard watching him make one bad decision after another. His actions had such a heavy impact on a lot of people who genuinely cared about him, and it was both heartbreaking and frustrating to see everything play out. While I don’t want to minimize or justify his actions, this really showcased the ways in which a difficult/traumatic upbringing and unaddressed mental illness/addiction/grief can have. Phoenix ultimately grew and developed a lot by the end, but there were several times throughout the book were I was actively rooting against his HEA.
While my feelings about Phoenix were incredibly complex, I absolutely adored Lennon. She was such a solid FMC, both in terms of her personality and character development. It was really difficult reading the scenes where Lennon was cruelly bullied and fat shamed (both in high school and present day). Her struggles were so incredibly relatable which made it that much harder to read. While this could have 10000x more groveling, I liked how Lennon wouldn’t and couldn’t immediately forgive Phoenix for everything he’d done to here and really made him work to rebuild their broken trust.
I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I loved all of the side characters. I think I saw somewhere that Memphis x Skylar would be getting their own book and I can’t wait to get my hands on that. Judging by how things ended here, it’s hard to picture if or how these two will get to a HEA.
Also just so you’re aware, the audiobook is narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon…10/10 would recommend.

I absolutely LOVED this book it was sad and happy and it would make you cry and yell at the same time the way the story built was everything I could ask for it was the perfect book i just don’t even have words !!!!!!

The voices in the audio was the only redeemable quality of this book. Lennon is so weak, I’m starting to notice that’s a trend in Ashley Jades books. Where is the groveling on phoenix's end? Nowhere. I wish I had the ability to DNF a book because I would have if I hadn't purchase the audio already.

This was both entertaining and heartbreaking. The last portion shattered my own grieving heart resurfacing all those same emotions.
