Definition of overrated. Poorly written, an absolute bore.

Forced to read this book against my will in AP English Lit class. Ironically it became one of my favorites! I didn't care for it much because I didn't understand the larger purpose behind the plot until half way though, but once I appreciated the meaning behind Fitzgerald's artfully crafted prose, I began to truly enjoy it. Definitely one I will be reading again!

I honestly really dislike this book. I had to read it twice for school and analyzing the heck out of it really doesn't help the plot.

I finally read it!! I was always a fan of the movie of The Great Gatsby, so I have been meaning to read it for a long time, but I held off until I read it for school. This book did not disappoint me at all! Very sad, with very many deeply flawed characters. I enjoyed this book very much!

Meh, it was okay. This was my least favorite book I was required to read in high school, and I still don't particularly like it 25 years later. I understand it better now, and the writing is quite poetic, but I just didn't really enjoy the story.

Just reread so I could see the new movie coming out! I don't even remember finishing this in high school so I had no clue of the story. I didn't find it as boring as I thought I would, still it's not making my favorite list. I am so much more excited for the movie now, bring it on Leo!

My English 3 class is currently in the midst of reading this book but I had to read ahead because I have no self control lol.

Fitzgerald’s writing style is a bit confusing at times. You can definitely get lost in all the beautiful descriptions so I had to read Spark Notes summaries after each chapter. That made it a bit frustrating to read. Also the ENDING.

It ripped my heart out of my chest, honestly.

All in all, I did enjoy The Great Gatsby.
