Slow book, a lot of characters that got me confused how it was all going to tie in. Could have been my distracted mind instead of this book. Good story, strong female character and good mystery

Martha Ballard is a bad ass. This book was an unexpected pick for me for my book club and I’m so happy I grabbed it. Never read the author before but I certainly will pick up more in the future. It’s so incredibly well-researched (the authors note MUST be read but not til you’re done the book) and it is such a powerful story.

The twist isn’t necessarily unexpected but still deeply satisfying. Love Martha & Ephraim’s relationship 🫶. Every one of their kids was so well-drawn, and PLEASE lord I see what you do for others, deliver unto me what Moses and Barnabas have (hot, smart women with secure attachment styles).
