I feel dumber for having read this. 2 stars because I can understand how some people think this is "cute Christmas fluff" but I'm not one of them. Elle being obsessed with followers and wanting 30,000 to prove to her parents she's ok after her best friend trolled her online makes no sense. Like what??? Am I supposed to feel bad for her???? This was such a stupid plot point. I still can't understand why Dove had it out so bad Elle if she already had a successful social media account to begin with?? Was Dove supposed to be competing with herself?

Holly screaming and acting completely irrational thinking an intruder was in Nick's room when his parents literally said he just got home was also completely stupid. Why would she just assume it's an intruder??? This "meet-cute" was so dumb.

Also, Colin-human?? Is this a dog? Is this a human? Did I miss something? I never figured out if this was a dog or an actual human or if there are two Colins.

I think the author was trying to go for the holiday but make it #genz and cute! and Christmas! and cozy! But I don't even know what this is.

The book was slow to start, and I didn’t realize and love that they were in HS. Overall a cute Christmas book but felt too long. The ending was super cute and what redeemed it for me.

It’s a Hallmark movie in book form, and I’m here for it.

I usually love (or at least appreciate and enjoy!) YA, but this felt more like an early reader. It just felt really, really young, and I wasn’t enjoying it. DNF!

It took me a bit to get into this book. It started off a bit slow and I just didn't see where it was going. Once things picked up though, I got invested and ended up enjoying it.

This book is filled with holiday cheer and a cute, contemporary romance. I loved that both Holly and Elle learned a lot about themselves throughout the book. I laughed out loud a few times, especially the situations Holly got herself into! I could see this book being one that would be made into a cute holiday Hallmark movie and it is exactly what you would expect from it.

If you want a fun, fluffy, festive romance, this book is for you! You will love Elle and Holly and all their holiday shenanigans.

It was difficult for me to get into because of the voice of the main character

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

Where do I begin? I was drawn to this book because, despite my wariness of contemporary romances (I find them very hit or miss), but I loved the premise of a holiday swap romance. It had all the makings of a cheesy, feel good, holiday rom com, and who doesn’t love those? And this was cute! Blame It on the Mistletoe is a very quick and easy read; I flew through it whenever I picked it up. Both of the main couples were adorable and endearing, and it made me smile when both finally got together. I’ll admit, there wasn’t as much of a romance focus as I’d expected, but what there was was very sweet.

There isn’t really anything specific that I didn’t like about this book. There was an over abundance of ellipses and caps lock which, not exactly a deal breaker. In the end, the moral of the story was a bit heavy handed, much more of a “tell not show,” but I don’t think this is all that uncommon in YA books. Really, the reason I didn’t rate this higher isn't because there was anything particularly wrong with the book, it’s just that I found the book average. It was fun, but it wasn’t memorable and it failed to really make me feel anything. Some things didn’t speak to my personal taste—I can’t stand instant love, and I’m not huge on miscommunication trope, and there was plenty of both—but that’s just me.

This fun YA novel is The Holiday meets today’s influencers. Two girls, Ellen and Holly are friends on Instagram and switch places ( New Jersey and Little March, England) for a week leading up to Christmas. For Elle, she is in a challenge to gain new influencers and become a social media star. For Holly, she’s trying to get over her ex and find the holiday spirit again. Both girls will come to realize that the holidays are much more than likes on a post or perfect holiday plans.

Full disclosure I read majority of this book laying on my daughters floor because all noises are now terrifying, so it helped to pass time quickly. At first I was worried it would be another cheesy holiday book but I enjoyed the pacing of the story and the growth of both our characters. I highly recommend adding this to your holiday reading list!

This was such a cute holiday book! I didn't realize it was YA until after I read it, but even so, I enjoyed it a lot. There was a hint of romance, but it wasn't the main focal point of the book. I like how Elle and Holly grew throughout the book, and there were some great side characters as well. Definitely a fun, light read for the holiday season.
