This was such a cute read. Helene's tone juxtaposed with Frank's was amusing and touching, andbit was lovely to see how this 20 year friendship seemed to brighten the lives both of Helene and her friends at 84, Charing Cross Road. Absolutely lovely.

84 Charing Cross Road is the most charming novel about the twenty-year correspondence between the author Hanff from New York and Frank from a antiquarian bookshop at the eponymous address in London! Beautiful, beautiful letters!

My edition had additionally a second part called The duchess of Bloomsbury which was the account of the author's long-awaited trip to London in the form of her hilarious diary entries. We get to explore London with her and meet all the curious characters she encountered!

Did I think I would get attached to such a short book…no. Did I…you bet. Sweet, charming, and heartwarming.

5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Never wonder if I’ve found something somewhere else, I don’t look anywhere else any more. Why should I run all the way down to 17th St. to buy dirty, badly made books when I can buy clean, beautiful ones from you without leaving the typewriter? From where I sit, London’s a lot closer than 17th Street.

I do love secondhand books that open to the page some previous owner read oftenest. The day Hazlitt came he opened to "I hate to read new books," and I hollered "Comrade!" to whoever owned it before me.

Charming and surprisingly funny. A heartwarming glance at a transitory period of history.

Read for my second book club with coworkers.

I loved this so much. An ode to book lovers and bookshop connoisseurs, of handwritten letters and unconventional human connections. Simply delightful.

Friends, have you read this little gem of a book? If you love books, especially old English books, you'll love this little collection of letters between Helene Hanff and some English booksellers. I assume that these are actual letters, which I didn't realize until almost the end. It makes me want to start back over at the beginning knowing they were actual letters. Helene was a character! My brother would enjoy this book, as he so enjoys English literature and especially this type of dry humor. If you know someone like that, or are like that yourself, read this book. It's a joy!

I found myself to get quite attached to the characters introduced in this book and was surprisingly emotional. Love a good collection of letters/correspondence.

3’5. Este libro te llena el corazoncito y te hace sentir parte de algo (no sé explicarme). Si me lo hubiera leído en invierno con velas, manta y café, probablemente sería un 5 estrellas.
