If you have read all of Shannon Hales Books are you are looking for a very quick and enjoyable read, you will like this book.

Great YA fiction,  though not as neat as Ella Enchanted. The prince deciding offscreen that he believed aza after all was too convenient,  for example

A lighthearted read from my childhood.

Very annoying. I couldn't even enjoy this book because i couldn't pronounce the names half the time. Aza? Come on now. Had the same problems as Ella Enchanted but at least Ella Enchanted developed its characters better.

Fairest has always been one of my favorite books, and after reading it again after several several years, it still is.

This book is a companion novel to the better known "Ella Enchanted." Ella never appears, nor does Prince Char, but it takes place in the same world, and Aza, the main character is sister to Areida, Ella's best friend. The book is also a retelling of Snow White. It's exciting and romantic, but not quite as magical or as funny as "Ella Enchanted." Still, for fans of that book or fans of the fairy tale, it's a great read.

One of the book’s twists humbled me—I congratulated myself on picking up on the foreshadowing and was pleased when I saw I was right.

I was not right.

The writer masterfully subverted my expectations and I fully enjoyed this book—though there were parts that went over my head because magic systems and contemporary authors don’t always mix.
