This was a fun read. I enjoyed it and the story this author took us on. I am however on the fence about reading more in this series. I don’t really know what’s holding me back. Abby was fine. I liked her magical ability and how she didn’t shy away from it BUT it was a little too all knowing. Like she knows EVERYTHING and I remember thinking damn if I was her friend I’d hate that. I’d hate her constantly telling me or knowing what was going on in my life. There wasn’t a whole lot of danger or tension in this book till the very end but the mystery was fairly simple and also fairly obvious. Like I said I’m on the fence

based on the bubbly, almost myscene-like cover art, i really thought i was in for something middle grade or early YA. but abby, our psychic protagonist, is a woman in her 30s solving a gruesome murder case while navigating a very adult budding romance, so i think it’s safe to say that it’s definitely not a kids’ book.

reading this felt like cracking open a time capsule, with the characters using landlines and phone books. it gave me that same kind of nostalic feeling as booting up sims 2 in 2025 or watching those early 2000s flicks. there’s something so comforting about it.

abby as a narrator was a blast. it’s been ages since i found a character voice this fun and easy to hang out with. she’s sarcastic, dramatic, and sassy in a way that made me actually giggle a few times. i also really liked how the book handled her psychic abilities. it wasn’t just “i saw a vision”, but there was a real process to it. like she was actively trying to interpret her intuitions while still second-guessing herself, which made her feel more human. and learning that the author is a working psychic intuitive herself made everything so much more fascinating. you can tell a lot of this is drawn from personal experience. this definitely opened my mind a little, as previously, i was one of those people who thought psychics were scams. i almost feel guilty for having that sentiment.

the murder mystery was good. not groundbreaking or mindblowing, but it held my attention enough, seeing as i finished the whole book in a day. it wrapped a little too quickly and easily at the end, but it was alright.

finding out that there are seventeen books in this series made me smile. i don’t think i’ll read the rest anytime soon, because i’m not really a series girl anymore, but it’s nice to know there’s more of abby out there if i ever want to spend a rainy evening with her again.

Super fun. Like Stephanie Plum and Sean from psych. I wish she had a trusty sidekick though. I truly enjoyed this story and finished it in one afternoon. Perfect light read.

This was recommended to me years ago. My library didn't have it, and neither did the Michigan Electronic Library. But Audible had it! I will be listening to the rest as well.

It's a crazy time in my life and I'm not sleeping nearly enough. I suppose that is part of why so many of my books lately are light romps. This is another light romp that was a lot of fun to read. I found that I adored the character of Abby. She's a good person. She is a bit too naive at times which seems odd for a psychic, but she has such a good heart that I'm willing to cut her some slack.

I really enjoyed this book! It wasn't too cutsey and over the top with the psychic stuff, it was very well written and I enjoyed getting to know Abby and watching her struggle with what is going on between her and Dutch. The mystery part of it was great as well - although I didn't figure it out before Abby did LOL. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

Interesting premise, but I wasn't crazy about the characters--the love interest in particular. I wouldn't say the book is bad, just not to my personal taste. You win some, you lose some.
