Fun, and for a cozy, not as super frothy as some. A few editorial errors in places and those bugged me a little. The characters are entertaining and fun so definitely reading more.
Perfect read for a hot, summer day! Looking forward to making my way through the rest of the series.
Oh that was good. I am a fan of this series! Can't wait to read the next one!
2.5
This was a light-hearted read despite being a pretty heavy-hearted situation. The main character is gifted by being amazingly psychic (way more so than I would expect; she ALWAYS sees exactly the right thing).
The author repeats information a little too much for my comfort. At one point I found myself yelling: "yes, we know this! You've told us 8 times now that your sister is rich enough to buy the state of Rhode Island!!!"
But it's at least a read worth trying out since it goes fast and doesn't require much thought. The main character is chatty and narrates everything she's thinking. There could be less of that (for example, she tells us ALL about her dog for no reason other than to let us know she has a dog named Eggy who loves to eat eggs), but other than her overall propensity to chat, she's well meaning and seems like a nice honorable character.

I read this on the recommendation of a RL friend, and I'm going to have to thank her profusely because this was a great book. Abby, a "psychic intuitive," gets involved in a murder investigation after giving a reading to a woman whose sister had committed suicide. Abby is the real deal. Her intuition is spot on, and she grabs the attention of Detective Dutch Rivers after relating information about another murder during their first date.
I don't like wimpy female protagonists. I will drop a book that even hints of one. Abby is far away from this type of character. She is witty with just the right snark, and she doesn't take crap, especially from Detective Rivers when things quickly go south for them. She is curious and just can't let something go when it bugs her. The secondary characters of Cat, Abby's sister, and Dave, Abby's handy man, were just another wonderful layer to the story. The mystery and suspense were intense and even nail-biting at times.
It looks like there will be interesting stories ahead of her. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series, and I'm thrilled that I have 10 more books to go!

This was totally fun! Not quite as good as Stephanie Plum, but definately up there. Similar feel, just not quite as goofy.
So it's authors who are perpetuating the myth that women are supposed to be 5'6", 123lbs, with perfect metabolism and long hair!
her sister is everything she's not: petite and thin and rich. ugh. so she's five foot and 90lbs? Of course she's rich..
The dog's name is Eggy? Because he likes eggs? Good grief. Abby is 31 years old and has the imagination of a nine year old when it comes to names.
I'll give Abby this much: halfway through the book she hasn't slept with Dutch yet.
The writing style is starting to bother me. I suppose since this book is chicklit/cozy mystery (whatever that is), the author can get away with a very informal tone. Didn't stop me from rolling my eyes when she used three exclamation points!!!
OF COURSE Dutch is married! He's too good to be true! He let his mother decorate his guest room so she would be comfortable there.
At least Abby didn't sleep with Dutch. Nothing is so annoying as random sex scenes.

Great introduction to the Psychic Eye series. It didn't have the rough start that Victoria Laurie's Ghost Hunter series did, and for that I'm glad! In this series, our heroine, Abby Cooper, is a psychic intuitive and does not possess the ability to speak with ghosts. It was neat to see this character develop into something other than a cookie cutter image of MJ Holliday from the Ghost Hunter series. Great humor, romantic tension and story! Can't wait to read the next one!
