Absolutely adored this audio! It’s such a cozy and comfy mystery that it honestly put me on a murder mystery kick. Definitely gonna add more of this genre to my TBR list.

I adore the characters and story lines of this cozy series. The narrators are perfect. If you’re looking for an intriguing mystery that is easy to read and gives you all the feels, this is a perfect fit.

Pen and Aunt Sadie are gifted a collection of rare books from one of Sadie's old beaus. He is promptly found dead and the mystery begins. There is a second mystery surrounding some rare editions of Edgar Allen Poe's works. As usual Pen gets the help she needs from her ghost, Jack. Jack is my favorite character in these books. My favorite scene in this book is when Pen "gets assertive" with Spencer's principal.

I kind of got stuck in the middle of this book, but I will say that it actually had an excellent ending. I liked this book but I guess I just got distracted by other books. I like how the author of this series keeps giving us more info about Jack through the series. Can't wait to find out more about him.

Still a lot of sexism, the mysteries are really interesting and I have an inkling of who it is, but they tend to still surprise me.

But I am taking a break from the series because it just feels like the same thing over and over again with more sexism added every book.

This is a re-read as a listen and I am chain-reading/listening this series. I seem to be in the mood for a chain-read, back-to-back in other words.
I've been a fan of Cleo Coyle for some time and I like the Coffeehouse series a lot, but I love the Haunted Bookshop the most. It has a lot to do with the resident ghost, Jack Shepherd, I'm not ashamed to admit. HUGE crush on Jack. His personality, his vocabulary, and the way he's teaching Pen to stand up for herself. She's come a very long way since the first book and how she deals with people, her former in-laws, and issues at hand. Especially how she deals with investigating the murders she keeps stumbling into.
This one is a bit more violent I think, so maybe that gets ramped up with each entry in the series. Might my imagination and it's not a big deal to me.
Part of why I like the series, too, is how Jack shares an investigation with Pen both in his case files and when he guides her dreams. They tend to tie in with what's going on in current time with what Pen and the Quibblers are investigating.
I can definitely recommend this book, series and author
