Meh. Too long. Too much detail about things that didn't matter and too little about those that did

Nicholas Drummond is at his first day with the FBI and he and his partner are called out to a stabbing. Now let me say this is no ordinary stabbing because it results in them running all over New York City, and flying to Europe. It involves in Nicholas accidentally killing someone who has a poison tabled in their tooth. All this because of a secret society dating back before World War I.

Absolutely love this new series:A Brit in the FBI!

Loved the idea of this story and I’m a fan of JT Ellison, but the writing in this just annoyed me. The extra details that didn’t add to the overall story were too many to count, and I’ve never seen such an overuse of the term “manic grin”. I think I’m done with this series, such a disappointment!
slow-paced
Strong character development: No
Diverse cast of characters: No

Finished this one in the sunshine with a homemade cookie and it was the perfect thriller that I was looking for. The twists and turns were well executed. Looking forward to another in the series.

Wow! There is sooooo much action in this book, taking place over a very short period of time. To be honest I need to go back and read The Final Cut because I pretty much forgot who Mike and the other supporting characters were. This could have been read as a stand alone. There might have been a few instances of confusion, but it wouldn't detract from the non-stop action. I was getting a little bit bored with the Savich/Sherlock books so it is nice to have new characters to root for.

Fine book. Interesting historical side story- I wonder if it is true?

I typically like Catherine Coulter and enjoy the new "Brit" character, Drummond. Add on one of my favorite narrators, MacLeod Andrews, and it should be a slam dunk.
Not to be. the bad guy was so ridiculously over the top that I kept flashing to the Nazi bad guys in the first Captain America movie.
Not sure I'll be going on to the next in the series after this huge disappointment

Really entertaining but mindless. Liked the history aspect but wish there was more! Will probably still read the next one.
