A bit sexist

It is a good book, but not remarkable.
And the writing style got on my nerves a little, 3 stars seem good enough for it.

I’m not sure why I stopped reading this book midway through because it’s SUPER cute! Yes, it’s cliche at times, but the characters are so likable and adorable! And the story is so much fun!

Why was this so cute??? I would have liked to see more after they got together though...the ending felt kind of abrupt.

When I finished this book, I slammed it shut because it was such a let down. I was actually mad that it ended up being only a 2/5 star read for me. It started out so well. Rachel was so funny in the beginning, then she started getting extremely insecure and it was so irritating how she would constantly put herself down to other people and they would then compliment her and I just really hate when people do that in real life. Yeah, I'm insecure as well. Who isn't at times? But the way this girl went on was just overkill. Enough, already. We get it. You don't like yourself. That's not really helping me like you any better.

And don't even get me started on Kyle. The way he spoke: so irritating! Kyle: not a very interesting character. His personality: kinda flat and douchey. (Are you irritated by all of the : yet? Because the author chose to write around 20% of Kyle's lines like that. It was distracting and took away from my enjoyment a lot.)

In any good contemporary, you need to be able to ship the main characters. I did not like Kyle with Rachel at all. Nope. Those two do not mesh well with me. With Rachel's insecurities, I'm not sure she should even be allowed to date. Kyle should probably just be dating himself.

Also, it was so cliche at times. The author seemed to realize this since she had Rachel call herself out in the book saying a few times how cliche things were going. Yeah, how about just not making things so cliche? Instead of adding the bit about recognizing it. Take the cliche bits out.

Plus, for the little story that we got, this book felt extremely long.

Lastly, I don't feel like that was a great ending. It was like stopping a story in the mid

{4/5}

The perfect balance between hilarious and relatable.
informative lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: N/A
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I mean, I knew what I was getting into. It wasn't amazing, it wasn't terrible, but it was fun. I had a little trouble distinguishing the voices of the main characters at times, and I was disappointed with the direction they went with Emma, but it was a nice light read based on a kind of true story.
