Unsure of how it will play out, Peter invites Amy to his birthday party in a letter.
A nice, gentle story.

February 2017 - all about navigating friendships and the joy of letter writing (I need to introduce Ben to this pleasure).

This is part of the Peter story. He is having a birthday party and he is actually inviting a girl, Amy, to his party and he is sending her a letter. It’s a short and sweet story. There is a rain storm in the book. Willie, the Dachshund is in the story, YES. I love the colors and the art style. I think it’s a simple story.

I didn’t think this was the strongest Keats book, but it was good. A 3 star book for me.

Nephew thought this was a missing story. He has never mailed a letter in a mailbox like that. He said not much happens. The boy writes a letter and mails it, has a party. He said that’s sort of boring. He missed the emotion wrapped up in this story. He wants more action than simply walking in the rain.

What a cute little adventure Peter has, trying to get a message to Amy. I think that a child would love this to be read aloud.

Cute picture book that follows the further adventures of Peter from [b:The Snowy Day|310258|The Snowy Day|Ezra Jack Keats|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347624377s/310258.jpg|51286]--this time Peter is having a birthday party. He invites all his male friends in person, but he wants to send Amy a special invitation. I'm not really sure I "get" this book. Does Peter have a crush on Amy? Is that the reason for all the secrecy? Does he want to be friends? I wish this had been explained, because the plot is kind of shaky. ("Ugh! A girl!" Really?) The pictures are amazing, as usual. Love the collage work. I checked this book out from the Mississippi Library Commission.

Perfect for a storytime about friendship, letters, birthdays, or rain! I never read this one when I was young, so it just isn't up there with [b:The Snowy Day|310258|The Snowy Day|Ezra Jack Keats|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1173627696s/310258.jpg|51286] for me. But it does still have Ezra Jack Keats' great illustrations.
