The author presents some really interesting (and achievable) approaches to language learning that I can't wait to try out!
I just lost interest. I felt like a need to write everything down.

Interesting book containing different resources on how to most efficiently learn a language. I liked that the author was so obviously passionate about language learning and it made me feel inspired to work on bettering my Spanish and French. I got this from the library but it would definitely be nice to own since there are a lot of things I could reference. The main takeaway is that I can really improve upon my French if I binge watch 24 dubbed in French.

It's an easy and quite informative book to read. I like the science-based, experience-backed approach the author has. I'll definitely try out some of the techniques and recommendations in it.
The only small thing that grates on me is how often the author repeats the same information in different ways. I suppose it's a way to drill the information into the reader, but it makes the book much longer than it could have been. In addition, the author really pushes his pronunciation trainers, I'm sure it's fine but online reviews about them aren't the most convincing. So in certain parts, the book feels like a marketing ploy to get you to buy yet another thing. I haven't read other books about language learning (except of course textbook and grammar books) so I don't have a frame of reference to compare and contrast.
Overall, I really the author's writing style, witty and tongue-in-cheek, which makes for a good morning coffee kinda book.

This book is a bit overhyped in the language learning circles. Effectively just a guide on how to make best use of Anki or any other SRS, but nothing groundbreaking.
That said, it has provided me with the motivation necessary to sort out my own decks and focus more on my own learning so I'll give it that.

Some really great tips and gets you excited. I think this the type of book you should avoid on audio. There are so many series of instructions that just aren’t as accessible if you’re listening and it’s frustrating to switch back and forth to the pdf.
The cards are a bit convoluted but I don’t doubt they work. Also, many of the resources are no longer free and forvo.com has apparently been broken by all the attention. I don’t begrudge the author pay for the resources he built, it’s just annoying to have things like the pronunciation trainer buried within an expensive language bundle.
