it just didn’t work. I mean the whole relationship thing is not settled, how is everything gonna work ??
Besides that Rafe was given A LOT more attention and, from book one, it was always hinted it would have been be him in the end whilst Jordan came out of nowhere and she just boom fell in love with him randomly. With Rafe there is a build up to the relationship and a process, Jordan is a side character in the first book, we see more Nolan than him.
I’m not mad about the non-conventional relationship, I just think that it was done poorly and it was not the right choice for THIS series

The book isn’t modern literature and I was very well aware of this when I started it and didn’t expect it to be, looking for a light read, so I was kind of interested in it and almost excited to go on, but in my opinion the whole romance part is what kind of fucked it up. I wasn’t expecting the plot to be phenomenal or the characters to be super relatable/characterized, I read this kind of books because they have cliches, they don’t need commitment, are quite fast paced and keep me entertained, the thing that makes me read them is the romance. While in a fantasy novel the plot plays an important part because there is significantly less romance material, in this type of book romance is all I have and it matters a lot.

I genuinely liked Jordan, but I have been rooting for Rafe until the end.

Well, I will be honest, the ending of this book and this whole series was disappointing for me. I didn't like it at all. So disappointing. And because of that, I gave this book only 3 stars. It was going so good, I like the action, the secrets that were coming out, the whole plot was engaging but the ending ...

Review of series:

⭐️ 3.25/5

3 stars. buddy read

This book was a complete 180 from the previous books. The finale was a darker version of the Hunger Games in my opinion with espionage, infiltration, politics, resistance groups, and ultimately trying to change the world. If I went into this book knowing it was going to end like this, I think I would've given it a higher rating but it felt off to go this route. All in all, it was a good series.
