A little predictable perhaps but that just adds weight to the our belief that I must have been the author in a previous life.
Not quite enemies to lovers but definately polite skepticism to something much more. Very sweet but feel that Bertram needs a little sense knocked into him at points. (I blame his father who seems to be allergic to all forms of fun, so when he gets a taste of freedom he goes a little too far.)

2017: I think this one of Heyer's better stories.
2014: The ending could have been better.

One of my favorite books of all time! It's incredibly funny and unbelievably charming/romantic. I love Arabella!

Arabella is a stand out among Heyers heroines. Handsome, clever and good hearted, she doesn’t let the glitz and glamour of a season in London sway her from her valued and believes in doing good. For fans of Pride and Prejudice, this family is an inverse of Eliza’s, imagine if Mr Bingley were more pious and involved in his families affairs. I found the introduction of her family to show the bustle of a large family very well and although they aren’t well off, her loving parents leave a strong impression of wealth.
Arabella herself is charming and the main male character is a good match to me. They have good chemistry, easy banter and I really enjoy a rake falling in love first and putting in an effort. Arabella is smart and uses his status to her advantage, is honest with him and puts him in many positions where he is given the opportunity to show her his own kindness.
Her brothers subplot was very good and didn’t overshadow her main one which I enjoyed, it also showed Robert integrate himself into her family.
This was a real romance which Heyer rarely does. She often fills the pages with plots of intrigue and flecks some romance within it but Arabella is pure regency romance at its best. Definitely recommend as an introduction to the genre and author.

I'm sucker for Heyer's romance books. This one is soooo fluffy. Arabella is a heroine that stays true to herself. It's definitely very simple story, built on a basic conflict and premise and yet Heyer was able to DELIVER a fun love story. I spent about a week (yk im a slow reader) finishing this book and never once it bored me out, it's actually the other way arond. Arabella might be one of my fav fmcs out of heyer's novels and damn if Arabella's and Robert's interactions aren't heartwarmingly funny. my fav! my fav!

The only reason it's 4 and not 5 is that I apparently don't read enough regency stories to know what was going on most of the time.
The language was a bit difficult for me, but the story was excellent and I enjoyed it.

The rich heiress hoax should've been resolved in the middle. Prolonging it until the end gave an awkward and unsatisfying finish in the story. Nonetheless, the hero made this book. Mr Beaumaris was one funny fella, and his interaction with his dog and butler were top notch.
