This thoroughly made up for the my dissatisfaction with The Black Moth. It was fun, the characters were more interesting, and the overall plot was more engaging.
funny lighthearted slow-paced

A lot to enjoy. But it does drag with the opening act of family banter, and later with the gambling tropes of Bertram.

It was time for a re-read and I loved it again!!

In some ways this was like getting the chance to read P&P all over again without knowing what's going to happen. And I was delightfully surprised at a good part of the plot. But it gets a little ridiculous in the second half and the heroine lost what made her interesting. Also, and more importantly, the hero was way too paternalistic for me to truly enjoy this. Maybe if more time was given to developing their relationship over the surprisingly long Bertram story line and the slow start, I could have bought this couple more. But it was sort of fun and I'll give another Georgette Heyer book a try.

Cute but a bit tedious at times! Could have been even shorter. But Arabella and Beaumaris were great characters.
