It has been years since I read book 2...oops. Not for lack of interest just how the reading goes.

I was nervous. to pick this book after so long in between. We follow Agent Ramirez as an FBI agent in the Crimes against Children team as a case evolves. This book is all based on one vigilanty angel rescuing children from their parents. When your job lands on your front door and the story picks up from there.

The writing in which this book is told is very well done. I enjoy Dot's writing so much. The pace was amazing and thrilling from the first page. The plot pulled me in, the disturbing memories and things that came to light were done well. I loved following a SPANISH FMC, agent Mercedes Ramirez and her love for her job. She is a very strong individual with demons of her own. Largely told in the present as the murders are happening.

I absolutely loved the relationships in this book between Agent Ramirez and Agent Eddison. As the story unfolds we also learn more about Agent Ramirez past and her high passion for her job. A tale that you are not a product of your circumstance but your decisions.

Heartbreaking yes but I picked this up knowing it was Crimes Against Children unit in the FBI. I loved this sprinkles of Detective work but found the interwoven crime/thriller and humanity of these agents and the toll of working such a job really brought it full circle. Terrifying to think that such circumstances exist and that we need such a unit. Check trigger warnings for this book.
