This was another good one from Dot Hutchinson but there are some really heavy topics in this book. I really enjoyed this book and was hooked. It moved at a very fast pace and I really enjoy reading from Ramirez's pov. I hope that in the next one we get some updates on the victims as we have in the previous books.

The Summer Children is perhaps the book in the series that is the most overt with regards to the distressing subject matter, but it is also easily my least favourite (although, the highest rating I gave a book in this series was a 3 so it’s not like I’m gushing about it either).
The quality of the writing seems to get progressively worse with this series, and once again, just like the first two books, the dialogue is all over the place and confusing. Speaking of dialogue, the random Spanish in this definitely threw me off; it felt forced, like the author felt the need to constantly remind us of the main character’s background and the fact that her partner also speaks Spanish. Found family is always nice, and I liked it in the first two books, but it might have been laid on a bit too thick in this one, especially when you consider the professional context. Ramirez had promise as a main character, but the way she was written left me feeling like there was a lack of depth.
I guess the only thing that kept me reading was the mystery aspect…? But even that had an unsatisfying ending, so I don’t know…should this be a 1 star rating instead…? I feel like I’ve read worse so…
As I’ve been reading this series, my disinterest has been steadily mounting, and while this was originally supposed to be a trilogy, I believe there is a fourth book. Safe to say, I will not be reading that.

My favorite of the series so far
It really should be 4.5.
If I'm honest this was my least favourite book in the series but I just think that's because the first two were so strong (and I can't decide which one I prefer). I mean I still love the series and will definitely reread them all.
I just wanted an epilogue.

The weakest of the three but I still loved the storyline. I only say weak because the relationships of the FBI agents really took me out of it sometimes. I just had a hard time as sometimes they seemed more like teenagers than "family". Glad I found this series overall!
