wow
Learning about each of the agents and why they do what they do, is just so achingly sad but also inspiring.
Mercedes going through what she did, and then having to face her past again in the most difficult way that makes her question her career, was something that I wanted to endure with her.

This one was definitely not for the faint of heart. It deals with pretty horrible people doing horrible things to children. I feel a little weird giving it a four star rating because of the subject matter. However, that being said, this was a really good read. I found that the characters connections made sense and there weren’t many false notes for me. It made sense why Mercedes went into the FBI and specifically working with children. It made sense why the ‘angel’ dropped the children off at her house. The ending made sense and was the only reasonable conclusion. I’d actually like the author to write another one in this series, but it was supposedly meant to be a trilogy so I’m assuming that won’t happen. My only real quibble, and it’s minor but it irked me enough to keep it from getting five stars, was the random inclusion of Spanish words and phrases. I get that that’s part of her heritage but it was the one small thing that rang false to me. It felt like the author wanted to simply remind me that the lead was on Hispanic descent and that was the only way to convey it. Overall, though, a really good book.
Dot, are you okay?? The trauma this series is instilling in me is not advantageous! Good lord, though, do I absolutely love it.
This third installment of The Collector series was just has heart wrenching as the first two. This time following Agent Mercedes Ramirez and learning all about her and her traumatic childhood and what led her to join the CAC team. There wasn’t really a plot twist at the end, I had the ending figured out by about 60% into the book but I still could not put this book down!
