Reads like the notes app of a DV victim. Heartbreaking that she went through this.

Pretty Boys Are Poisonous is a collection of poems by Megan Fox. The topics she covers in her poems are important to discuss. However, I do not believe poetry was the right route for her as the topics are not handled in a sensitive manner. One example of such a poem is:

Your love leaves
bloodstains
on my bedsheets
- it's giving patrick bateman

Also, I first listened to the audiobook as it was narrated by Megan Fox, but I quickly became lost because I did not realize the titles were at the end of the poems. I can see that she was trying to pack a punch by having the titles at the end, but I do not think it was necessary. I then read the ebook, which was a better experience, but the poems themselves were not the best. That said, I did like the illustrations by Audrey Kawasaki.

Eh. A lot of cringe, but also a lot of seemingly genuine emotion. Took me maybe 20 minutes to read, so not delving into super deep territory here but also no time wasted by reading it. Some of the poems were witty; there were clever bits. I still love Megan Fox (probably) forever.

Poetry is subjective. So, if people are talking about it or conflicted about it, then it's a success in my eyes. Personally, I really enjoyed the content of this book. I liked the poem titles and the art. Because we know Megan Fox, or we conceive that we "know" her through the spotlight, there is an edge to her words. She knows we're going to google the height of who she's dating, we're going to look at a timeline of past relationships and make conclusions. She's challenging you to, she's daring it, and she's saying she doesn't care.
I appreciated her vulnerability and she didn't F around at any point. I'd really like to own a copy instead of just borrowing it from the library; I heard the voice of many of my friends and loved ones in her words.
Five sexy pissed off stars.
