Wish I could give it zero stars. It was worse than some middle school emo's journal.

years ago at a music/slam poetry/stand up open mic i read since of my poems instead of doing stand up for the first (and only) time. really, it was unprocessed trauma and grief formatted in a poetic way, but clunky and desperately in need of editing. it was a really supportive open mic group and at the time i thought it would be a safe place to try out poetry, but in hindsight i wanted to be able to say what happened to me, share my pain, and be met with open arms. i’m reminded of that time in between the snappy, heavily-referential lines here. despite the writing itself, i respect the agency of telling her story on her own terms.

A raw account of the pain she has been through. Very powerful, heartbreaking and honest.

I'm not typically a poetry person. I think my opinion on this should be based on that idea. But I did enjoy it. I dont know if they're great poems but the emotion in it was really touching.

Although some of the poems included were a little cringey, majority of this was a meaningful expression of the emotional trauma caused by abuse. I also enjoyed Megan’s petty humor which breaks up and softens the content a bit. **I found ‘oxycodone and tequila’ to be the most triggering so t(read) lightly!**
