These poems are trying too hard to be edgy and utilize very, very over dramatic verbiage. It isn’t done in an artistic, poetic way, where the words help you move through emotions. It’s more like a teenager just starting to recognize deeper emotions within themselves…while also using a thesaurus. Something about this just felt off for a thirty-something woman to have written, but it’s so hard for me to put my finger on *exactly what that is. Edit to add: Vapid is the word I’m searching for.

Beautiful. Anyone who has been in an abusive relationship will devour this book as it seeps into their soul. The last 3 pages broke me.

Much of these read like they were written by a teenager discovering a thesaurus. However, "I've always liked serpents" and "boys without mothers" resonated with me.

super dark and graphic but also really clever and witty. most of the poems are really short so this literally took me about 20 mins to read. i don’t read much poetry but this is the kind of poetry that i enjoy. shoutout to julia for telling me to read this book
