This is one of those pieces where I wonder if in a few years the author will read this and think about their work 20 years down the line.

Poetry is subjective, as all forms of writing are, but my opinion feels irrelevant in this instance.

Megan’s book of poetry was… dark. It reminded me more of a diary that you would keep to yourself instead of published for the entire world to read. As eerie as it sounds, I really pray that this isn’t a cry for help. Megan, please take care of yourself- nobody deserves to be tortured and abused. You deserve a healthy, fulfilling and safe love that you can be proud of

Putting aside that she writes from her experience and her past toxic/abussive relationships, some of the poems were cringy and some comparisons felt like she was trying too hard to be deep. However, the book had a few good lines and for the most part I did enjoy it.

This took about 30 mins to read which felt short, even for a book for poetry. I was moreso in awe of what Megan feels or thinks is love and that this book is a cry for help. I fear one day we will hear tragic news about her and point back to this book and say “well…. She said this was going to happen, if only we had listened. A little too late”.

And my heart breaks for that. Certainly it is better to be alone than to be wrapped up in abuse and lost to yourself.

She is intelligent and brutal in her analysis of men but also herself. Her poetry reflects that. I finished reading it and wanted to read it again but also... didn't.

This was magnificent. Poetry has no guidelines, and i absolutely love that raw emotion was completely poured into this. It takes a lot of vulnerability to showcase any parts of experienced trauma. Megan sure did that and went out with a bang with the last two poems.
