I didn't feel Burrough's plight in any way until the end. While it was interesting to read, I felt like the rug was pulled out from under me at the end instead of a resolution.

This is by far my favorite Augusten Burroughs memoir. So crazy, it must be real.

Even though I couldn’t stand Runs with Scissors, I thought I’d give this book a try and I’m glad I did. It’s so much better. It also helped that I wasn’t blindsided by intense child abuse. Finally, if you are an alcoholic you will likely be able to relate; especially if you are in your 20’s or 30’s; especially if you are in New York City; ESPECIALLY if you work in a creative industry with models, designers and marketers. So many times I just nodded my head in agreement.

This guy is arrogant. I don't like him very much, but I found the story, and his writing, to be riveting.

A fantastic look into Augusten Burrough's mind in all it's addictive, self-destructive, and deeply human tendancies.

I found myself being unable to put the book down - needing to know what happens to each character whilst being deeply affected by the emotional journeys being told.

The relationships in the book are rich, if at times frustrating. Being taken by the development of Augusten himself is highly rewarding.

VERDICT: 1.75 stars, rounded to 2.
Much self-destruction, an attempt at sobriety, a few minor laughs. And, I suspect, a bit of embellishment in the telling. I suppose I got my money's worth ($0.53 thrift shop book).

You may find Burrough's brand of humor and self-deprecation hilarious, or at least moderately entertaining. I think I slightly prefer [a:David Sedaris|2849|David Sedaris|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1213737698p2/2849.jpg]'s books instead--a similar brand of humor, but more LOLs for me.
