I'm a huge fan of Burroughs and Running with Scissors is probably my favorite memoir. Dry picks up with Burroughs' life in his twenties, where he is now has a high paying job in advertising and a major alcohol problem. Despite never getting an education beyond elementary school, Burroughs has been scrappy enough to land himself a great job, though his drinking is detrimental to his success. Finally his partner and bosses decide he needs to change, so Burroughs signs up for a month long stint at rehab.
Most of the book follows his stay at rehab and the months following as he tries to stay clean. Burroughs depicts the roles of his closest friends: his drinking buddy, his best friend from rehab, a gorgeous love interest from his group therapy, his advertising partner, and his best friend who is dying of AIDS. Each one plays a significant role in his recovery and his problems and make for an interesting tale about overcoming severe alcoholism.
As always, Burroughs spins a great story, making you laugh and cringe your way through. Though definitely not as lighthearted as Running with Scissors, it was fascinating to delve deeper into Burroughs' crazy past.

One of my favorite books ever. I thought it would be depressing, but his humor came through even when talking about rehab. Loved this book.
I loved this book. If you know anything about rehab, want to know anything about recovery or know someone who's gone through it, you'll love it even more. He's a funny dude.
Being a huge fan of Burrough’s Running With Scissors I am not surprised with how much I liked this. I love his writing style and perspective, how he puts a funny twist on things without making them seem self deprecating. I especially loved the characters here; Greer, Pighead, the British guy Hayden who’s accent jumps off the page. Loved it.
Pretty good book, kept me reading, nothing groundbreaking or outstanding but the writer has a whim and a zeal to write, he's very interestingly edited the book and its fun to read.
