This was very different from Augusten Burroughs past work as he seemed much more human in this book. He is still the superficial Augusten from Running with Scissors and Possible Side Effects, but has more depth through his experiences. Dry was certainly sad as Augusten was sent to Rehab by his job and after rehab, he is reflecting on his life and realizes just how messed up he is.
Augusten Burroughs’s Dry was a book I fell in love with. Funny, charming, and romantic. I got caught up.
You might need to be a little weird, neurotic, addicted, etc. to really appreciate this kind of book; personally I happen to be all of those so I really loved it. I’m glad I listened to the audiobook
I was surprised by this book. I didn't expect to like it. I enjoyed (mostly) Running with Scissors, and was curious about the subject of this book. It was riveting. How would I describe it? Real. Authentic. Funny. It really showed me a part of life I wouldn't normally see or even imagine. I also found it very inspiring.
I loved the honest, dry writing style. The parts about grief are incredible. I don't think the humor in the book has aged well though...

I really enjoyed this (thanks for the rec, Damon). I listened to the audio version, which was great because it was read by the author and it was like we were just sitting in a room having a conversation (well, a one-sided convo). Bourroughs has a very funny, conversational NY style of writing. He tackles highly emotional topics in a sarcastic yet poignant way. Definitely try to get your hands/ears on the audio version, but I'm sure the print version is just as good.
