Overview of how our bodies hold trauma and some ways to let go. The first half dives into various traumas and how they might present in different people. The second half explores a few treatment modalities that have been found useful. I am curious about the audience for the book and feel that early career therapists and social service workers may benefit from some of the insights both in how they prescribe treatment and in understanding reactions from those they serve.

It was very good (interesting, educational, & engaging) until the last few chapters where he started describing treatments that he could, for the most part, only support through anecdotal experience. I don’t doubt they have some efficacy, but it was a hard switch from well-supported science to more theoretical ideas. I still recommend the book and look forward to a future edition that can hopefully back up more of his treatments.

it was great
it took a lot of time and mental energy and I got triggered a few times that I had to put it down but it gave me a better understanding if trauma and how our minds process hurtful events in general
the later chapters was lacking
