Ok, so this is what I've been waiting for the entire series. Seriously. And I loved it while I was reading it, but now I can't help but think it was a bit anticlimactic. I enjoyed the story, how Dani was learning to be on her own, but when Ryodan finally comes back it was frustration after frustration. I like that they are so different from Mac and Barrons, but as incredible as it sound it seemed to me that Ryodani had more miscommunication than them. All of a sudden we're learning of all this feelings, and things that characters did and felt for the others, and even though I knew they were endgame, I didn't want to be surprised by it. I know this has been developing for a long time, but it feels as if both Dani and Ryodan completely changed their character form one day to the next. Also, this book didn't feel as important for the story as it should have been. The introductions of the gods is really important but at the end, because of Dani's plot, we missed the best part of the battle and now I don't understand what the state of the world, and the war, is. Luckily I'm jumping straight into the next one.
This is such a weird series for me. I don't really look forward to the next book, but when I'm reading it, I'm really enjoying it. And when I'm done, I don't really think about it. I like the characters in this world. I also like coming back to it, but I would be lying if I didn't say that the plot is feeling a bit redundant. The overarching plot, not the specific plot of this book. I really think the series could have ended with this one and I'd be satisfied, at least with Dani and Ryodan's story.
I didn't feel as connected to Dani and Ryodan even though I like their characters. This book took an interesting turn(Dani turning into a Hunter was pretty freaking cool, but it felt like it came out of nowhere and was kind of weird. I still really liked it though when I just rolled with it.) and that's what made it stand out to me as opposed to any major connection to anyone. I feel as though this series may have run its course with me.
I finished this in one day, but I think it was because my kid was home sick and I spent all day on the couch with him. I'm not entirely sure that if I had started this and then put it down that I would be compelled to pick it up again. I enjoy reading this series and will probably continue to do so, but I'm not in love with the characters or even the world. I would not call this a favorite. Whether it's fair or not, I'm comparing it to the Mercy Thompson series in the sense of how I feel about the world/books. I love Mercy Thompson; like LOVE her. I also love most of the characters in that one. To the point that I'm excited to jump back into that world and miss them when I'm gone. But I don't feel that way about this series. I enjoy it while I'm reading it and then dismiss them when I'm done.
Isn't this a great review? I do write these reviews for myself too so that I can remember how a book made me feel. And I just kind of feel like this series needs to be done. Again, I might read the next one that comes out this year or I might just let it go.

I'm giving it 3.5 stars.
This was a really strange book and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I read it over the course of a single day, but I can't decide if that's because it was good or because it was like coming up on the scene of an accident and I couldn't look away.
After 10 books, I'm still invested in the series and I intend to see it through until the end, but I'm hoping that the end comes sooner rather than later.

First off, all you Dani haters....

That being said, I am still supremely PISSED that because of all the Dani backlash after Iced we never got the story that KMM meant to tell. I won't even rehash that terrible BOOK thing that happened in Feversong with Mac.
We could have had SO. MUCH. MORE.

Anyways, enough of me being crazy. Dani is probably my favorite of the female characters that KMM has written. I mean a strong, confident woman who fears a guy that could rip her heart to shreds? Let's just condemn her as annoying why don't we? Okay, I'll stop now I promise.
This story revolves around Dani being practically left alone for a few years after the events of the last book. New threats come along and pretty soon no one can help Dani, not even Ryodan. This book gets all the stars just for those angst filled moments between him and Dani, and all of the verbal sparring moments between them as well. KMM has a very unique and creepy imagination and I can honestly say I would never want to live in her head. I do hope we get more of Dani and Ryodan in the future. I am even wildly hoping for a Lor book. Can that be a thing please????
Anyways, if you don't hate Dani (and are basically awesome) you will enjoy this book. It's like KMM threw us Dani/Ryodan lovers a bone and it's one I'll gladly accept.

200th book!
i’m glad dani got her happy ending but tbh there was like no plot in this book LOL

I admit, it’s book 10, I was getting kind of tired of this series and ready to move on. But damn son, this one got good! Now I can’t wait for book 11 to come out in January! Go Dani and go Ryodan! I love you both
It's over. It's finally over.
Now, this book was far from perfect; I had quite a few issues with it, but they were trivial compared to how much joy KMM's writing brings me.
I'm probably in the minority in that I absolutely adore Dani, from the moment she was introduced. She's spunky with such clearly defined morals, and it was a pleasure watching her grow up through her books.
An issue I had that jarred a bit intermittently throughout, though, was that Dani's distinctive voice slipped several times. At times, I felt like it would have been hard to differentiate her from Mac, so it's probably a good thing that she was barely in this book.
About 75% of the way through, when a certain reveal happens with Shazam, I was seriously wondering what the fuck KMM was smoking. Turns out, even the most outrageous ideas can be saved by the execution, and I am happy to say that I ended up loving this turn of events.
Lastly, not gonna lie, I was hesitant to jump onboard the Dani/Ryodan ship because he focused his attention on her when she was so young, but the revelations at the end totally worked for me. I love them. When the chunk of star from the prologue came full circle, I might have audibly shrieked, it was so good. Poor Ryodan.
So yeah. Loved the shit out of this. It took a while for things to get going, so it's not knocking off Shadowfever from its top spot in the series for me, but it was a more than satisfying ending. I'm such a sucker for an HEA.

Let me start by saying Karen Marie Moning is my jam.
I have read everything by this author and will continue to read what she writes. So this review will be as objective as I can make it but keep in mind, the Fever Series is an all time favorite for me. (sorry not sorry)
“Pawns are not to blame for the actions of kings. Children are not to blame for the atrocities of adults.” High Voltage, Karen Marie Moning
Dani O’Malley, since she’s been introduced, has always had the short end of the stick. If you want to see a rough childhood, rough teen years, and still rough adulthood – look no further. Dani has the market on it. HIVO is no different in that regard… spoilers… her life is still sucky. (but in a Mega way —- I crack myself up) ….
I feel like I’ve waited forever for this book. *taps fingers*
Ryodan and Dani have danced around each other for aaaaaaaaaages. For very good reasons mind you, he’s an immortal beast and she started out super young. I was willing to wait. My waiting was worth it.
After the wreckage of an emotional roller coaster in Feversong (I cried a lot and then cried some more), this book was the PERFECT follow up. It still has some moments where I got glassy eyed, so buckle up. Overall though I didn’t think it was as emotionally intense. Which I appreciated. It’s been a rough ride for the past 9. (hehe #thenine) …….(please read the books so I’m not chuckling by myself folks) hahaha
High Voltage is more romance based than I was used to seeing in this series. Not in an overwhelming way, but in a very rewarding OMGFINALLY type way. Where for Mac her story closure (Feversong) was a sigh of puzzle piece falling into place. Dani’s story closure is of someone turning up the music volume and dancing all night. Mac’s story finally had rest. Dani’s story finally has purpose. A soft smile versus a victory dance.
It was beautiful.
There is only one item I’d say was a negative for this book and it was the fact that the story started a little slow. By chapter 5 I didn’t notice any of that anymore though and went full speed. I’d also say the prologue was a little confusing but everything is wrapped up nicely by the end of the book. 🙂
Karen Marie Moning gave a wonderfully written closure to questions I’ve had since the beginning. She’s done some of the best world building I’ve seen in this series. This book feels like a wrap up to all of that but I have heard teases of possible additional books to give us insight to some current side characters. I know I’d be all in for that type of read.
Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars
Plot: 4 stars
Character Development: 4.5 Stars
Dialogue: 5 Stars

I recommend this series to anyone I meet. Every time. I warn them, like I’ll warn you all, that book one can drag a little. It’s earlier writing and frankly that book shows the growth and change of the characters so well later on it’s stunning. If you’re not down for 10 books to read, by all means I’d even say you can read the first 5 and stop…. like… if you’re a monster than can just eat one pringle or chip. (But honestly, who does that?)
Go grab book one~ take a look and come back here with comments of “HOW DID I NOT KNOW OF THIS SERIES?!” or “Really not my thing, how do you like it?” I’m willing to throw down on either comment or question hahahaha
Enjoy reading (and the new addiction),

Not as good as some of the other Fever books.
I love getting Danny’s story and learning more about who she is now as a woman. She has been through so much and it’s so amazing how she hasn’t let it turn her bitter. I enjoy seeing her interact with Ryodan and I love them together! Danny never fails to make me laugh.
I missed Mac and Barron’s though and hope the next book is about them. KMM is amazing and the world she has made just amazes me.
