While not as successful at making the morally grey characters likable here as compared to Such a Fun Age, there’s two things Kiley Reid continues to deliver on: 1. Social commentary that makes you think and squirm and 2. Dialogue that feels so authentic like the reader is a part of the characters’ conversation and makes you LOL.

There are a lot of things happening in the book and at some point I wasn't even sure how they'd tie up but they do and it's kind of nice and definitely an entertaining read that also tackles some interesting issues, albeit lightly

Wanted to get out of my reading slump and I kinda did so served its purpose

Zusammenhanglose Kapitel und langweilige Gespräche. Vielleicht sollen die Banalitäten des Alltags gepaart mit der Erfahrung mit Geld der jungen Menschen auf etwas gesellschaftskritisches hinweisen... Habe mich entschieden mich da nicht mehr durchzuquälen.

Reid really nails the voice and tone of all characters and brillantly plays with the power dynamics around the intersection of race, gender, queerness and money. I just wish the storyline was a little more satisfying.
