I thought this book was predictable and I never fully got into the book. I finished because I wanted to see if I was right.

This book has a fabulous writing style, and I absolutely loved the heroine. She’s a horror/true crime writer in her thirties, (just like me!), and her depression was depicted in a raw and visceral way that was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, I saw the major twist coming from the very beginning of the book. Normally, that wouldn’t bother me much since this is a romance novel, but this particular twist completely changed how I interpreted and enjoyed the story. The author was a little too heavy-handed with the clues. Also, the twist really annoyed me a lot. The twist is under the spoiler tag.
SpoilerHer stalker and love interest is a figment of her imagination. Bah! I hated that twist, and it was so obvious from the beginning, when he kept saying things like “I’ll always be here for you” and “I’ve been with you forever”. I would consider the ending not a HEA or even a HFN because, well, he’s not real!

Despite my irritation with this major twist, I did love the protagonist and the writing style. Even the atmosphere of the book was just the right amount of spooky, and it made me want to move to a house in the middle of the woods. Maybe then I’ll be able to get some writing done.
Three stars because the twist wasn’t for me, but I definitely want to check out more by this author in the future.

S. M. Shade has just proven that she can write ANYTHING! This book was like nothing I’ve read before. This is a dark and twisty mind bending story with some really steamy moments that will for sure make you stop in your tracks.

This is the story of Darcy, and to say that this character has layers is an understatement. The things she has gone through have definitely molded her into a self sufficient author who covets her privacy. Then one day she doesn’t feel so alone, and her whole world changes.

If you have not read a book by S.M. Shade you definitely should and this is a phenomenal place to start! It is real, raw and emotionally charged. It is definitely going to grab you and keep hold and you are not going to want to stop until you get to the end!

Darcy Sharpe is an author who writes under the pen name, D.S. Shrike, to hide her past as her parents and brother were murdered.

Now Darcy finds herself being stalked by a man who scares her but also seems to breathe life back into her.

Can Darcy come to terms with her past and find the strength to move forward while keeping herself safe from her stalker?

This was a great book and totally different from what the author writes. I love that the author has tried something new and done such a great job.

I really liked Darcy and understood why she craved the solitude after everything she had been through. Yet Darcy was now facing a dilemma with her job and had to find a way through it.

Her stalker was definitely mysterious but was also extremely protective over her and wanted her for himself. He appeared at the right times and really was there to help Darcy cope with some things she was going through. Her friendship with Thea was great but it never helped when she could never reach Darcy.

Yet I felt like there was something else that wasn't clicking for me and I was on the right track which I absolutely loved!!

At a certain point everything begins to fall into place and it's kinda an OMG moment to see how it all ends up!

The very end was heartbreaking yet holy man at the same time!!

This book is full of dark twists and turns that will have your jaw dropping! I was not expecting the story to end that way even though my mind was telling me that in the back of my mind. Darcy and Reeves special relationship was still steamy though and had me wanting more of that steam! Loved this story though and entire plot!

The Dark of You by S. M. Shade is a standalone dark romance that you don't see coming.

This story is a dark intricate web of dark twists and turns that honestly grips you and doesn't let go.
Not for the faint of heart but totally worth the ride.
Can't say too much as this is better off read without preconceived ideas. Just dive right in and leave everything you know and believe in at the door.

This story left me going WTF. My mind seriously was

Wooow

I honestly saw that coming in a way. Not exactly how I thought it was gonna play out and end. It's so hard to leave a review on this book without giving away any spoilers.. Go in blind, make sure you play attention so you don't miss anything that's all I really can say.

Great book! Great plot. My head hurts now lol.
