It was a fun read, I’ve never read a fictional book in the perspective of a senior citizen, let alone a murder mystery but it was an interesting, easy read with good characters.
Was slap-happy, overly silly, too many characters than necessary, over the top. My mind kept wandering.
I really loved the idea of this because this is totally my thing, but I didn't like the execution of it. This was due to the book relying on two tropes that I dislike; character may be going crazy (but obviously not as that would be too simple) and character figures out something huge mutiple times, then promptly forgets it what it is while never naming it in the narrative so the reader is kept in the dark for another 50 pages until they figure it out again. I would be interested in the next books in the series because I love older people solving crimes, if the tropes I dislike are not as heavily featured. Which I think might be the case after Agnes revelations throughout the novel. I do want more background on all the characters as I felt we didn't get to know them as well as we could.
I did love the pets though! They were cute and added a different flavour to the story.
Spoiler
Like I get the agreeement, but the guy with memory problems decided way too fast that Agnes was lost. She had only been wobbly for a few days! She could've had a UTI that was making her confused. At least give her a month. It's a bit much to decide that she's a lost cause and needs to be ended after a wobbly few days that ended in wig snatching. Especially in that time, that they put down a friend on her request.I did love the pets though! They were cute and added a different flavour to the story.

A little slow to get into, but once I did it was quirky and silly.

This is an entertaining, if somewhat meandering, darkish-cozy mystery novel involving a geriatric and eccentric cast of wonderful characters (including Hettie the tortoise and Brexit the wolfhound) that all live in a large house that has been turned into a group home for the aged who are mentally and physically infirm but who have no desire to go to a nursing home. The mystery starts with the corpse in the shed at the back of the garden. Things get more complicated as the bodies pile up and the geriatrics decide to figure out who committed the murders, because the police don't have the full story. Moira Quirk does a wonderful job at narrating the novel.

I really enjoyed this murder mystery, although I do wish they had revealed a little more about the characters a little earlier on as it felt like I'd missed something on occasion. I especially loved that some of the story is told from the POV of the pet tortoise!
