I started reading this book last year, but I felt it was a bit slow, so it was on stand by, waiting for the moment when I was upto carrying on with the reading. Now I picked it up again, and read it til the end. A bit different from what I am used to reading, but really enjoyed it! Seeing some old people trying to solve the murders, with all their forgetting and weird ideas, difficulty in mobility, was fun! At the end, it was the old folks that solved everything. Had quite a few laughs along the way.

A bit like The Thursday Murder Club series but with more of the One Puzzling Afternoon level of unreliable narrator.

This book is really cute and the audio narration was excellent. I’m loving this genre of old people mysteries - they’re such a fun group and the representation feels necessary that life and excitement doesn’t end with age.
The mystery was slightly hard to follow because there were a lot of characters right off the bat and I felt like I couldn’t keep track of them all.
Overall, the house all these older people chose to live in and the way they looked out for each other was so sweet. I enjoyed the addition of the grandson, even though I don’t tend to love children in books, and I didn’t see all the twists coming (cause there were quite a few). And all the details about the stair lift really cracked me up… it was like this inanimate object inside their home was so pivotal and almost had a personality.
Definitely recommend and I hope this becomes a series.

This book was great. I love this trend of senior citizens solving crime (Thursday murder club, I'm looking at you) in cozy mysteries. This was a quick read with great characters so I was excited to see it listed as "miss sharp investigates #1"

I had high hopes for this but it was a pretty average read that was, in the end, predictable. I like my geriatric crime solves with a bit more agency and less ‘incapable’ and whilst this book may be more realistic in this sense it didn’t work for me connecting with the characters.
