Audiobook

I enjoyed this story very much! I debated between 3 and 4 stars because I was comparing it to "Gentleman in Moscow". However, when I judge this book on its own, the story is so original ... and the characters are so well integrated and unpredictable ... that it definitely deserves 4 stars.

I liked a lot of the characters (Sally and Woolly were my favourites). Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the ending. Also, what happened with the professor and Ulysses??? And Emmett, Billy, and Sally??? What was the point?

Another great one from Towles! I love the characters he creates and the overlapping stories. As professor Abernathy says, this story takes on the form of a “diamond on its side”. The story starts with a narrow view of our heroes, Billy and Emmett, then expands their world in geography and experience, and finally brings it all beautifully to a point at the end. An enjoyable adventure with a lot of heart!
