Gotta give it a little to get in but then it’s worth it. Stressful book. Emotional ending. Wow. Need to debrief this so much more
A quirky and fun adventure, with lots of witty plot twists and some loveable and villainous characters. Set in the 1950s it has a great sense of place. Gentle and funny and a bit of adventure, it was an entertaining read.

I almost just returned this one to the library because it was huge & had mixed reviews. It’s classic Towles; not a big plot, more of a meandering journey of getting to know characters. But once I started, there was no question of stopping! I loved this book so much, it was so well written and engaging. The one complaint you might have is all the different perspectives it was told from, but I did not have an issue with that!
Excellent read. The overarching sense of impending doom is a little much to take at first, but you soon understand what is going on and that fades into the background. Well defined characters and great dialogue. Well worth the time!
I should have had more faith in this author. It took me a few tries to get into Gentleman In Moscow, but once I got going I couldn't stop. This plot just didn't sound very interesting, but again - once I got moving with it I didn't want to stop. I love that the surface is always so calm, while bad things happen long the edges; but they don't have the big importance other authors would give them.
