I think the story and the writing itself was nothing that blew me away, but the audible was outstanding. I do not think I would have enjoyed as much if I had read it and assigned my own voices to the characters. Listening to this story read in Bob Mortimer's voice made it all seem funnier and a lot more amusing. The story is a very silly one, lots of little jokes that I did find funny. I even did like the murder mystery storyline, I think for a celebrity book it has been written pretty well and there were parts that did come as a shock to me. I liked Gary a lot, I like his banter and the way he views the world. I liked satsuma as well and Grace was a unique but entertaining part of the story.

I think this book would be enjoyed by people who like Thursday Murder Club!!

Just an enjoyable easy read! Not ground braking but had some good suspense and humour throughout! I will be reading the next one in the series

Mortimer’s promising debut will satisfy his loyal fandom as it is packed with his signature brand of fantastical mundanity. He has forged a career juxtaposing spectacle and humdrum, and that same approach proves problematic here. It’s a little too silly to be the palpable thriller that it does end up becoming. And it’s a little too grounded to be the escapist daydream that it ought to be.
