Tbh I don’t know what I think, I was really excited for this and the first part was so good. Caliope was such a strong character and a bit scary. I liked it, she was so steadfast and ambitious, she knew what she wanted! It was also so interesting to see their relationship grow, however, I didn’t like the idea that everything and I mean everything Ethan did in the other books were calculated plans. That he apparently hated Ivy, and everything about her. I mean I wasn’t her biggest fan but it couldn’t all have been a lie, it’s a little to much for me and what brought down the rating. It’s still an interesting book with a lot of things happening, some of it was maybe nonsense and just extra...
I wanted to finish it to find out how everything would play out, but Ethans character disappointed me. I wished there was a little bit more of Gigi and Ethan though. Their small interactions were very cute.

Wow wow wow! Hello Calliope! This book was so fascinating and turned everything on its head! The plotting, the chaos, the cunning, the ruthlessness, the sacrifice...and the lengths that people will go to for love and family. I did not see the events of this book coming AT ALL but I loved every second. McAvoy has yet again taken everything I thought I knew and blew my mind. Epic and badass! And yet again—that end! Oh man I’m so excited and nervous to start Vicious Minds Part 2!
I don't even know what to say.
I should appreciate Ethan for advance planning everything like 6 years before it actually happened but fuck he is a bastard. I never really liked ivy but shit i felt bad for her... Dude why the fuck do you have to do that?? And the entire time you were with her you never even once felt a bit of remorse?? I thought Ethan wouldn't stoop down that low but he had to do that and now I hate him. I hope Calli betrayes him the same way he betrayed Ivy. But i have this nagging feeling that Ethan already knows Calli isn't completely loyal to him. Hopes hopes hopes... Just hopes!! But i also think that maybe just maybe Ivy is alive and all along Ethan double played Calliope... I would love that because to me then atleast the COV will make some sense. But i don't really think that is going to happen. Please give me something that makes sense pleassssseeeeee! You can't really make me believe that the first book had no fucking meaning and Ethan's POV's were all a lie. Like for real does it even makes sense to you McAvoy???

I loved this series, I didn’t love this book or the last. I might read the last one out of sheer duty.. but I hate Ethan. I said it in my Children of Vice review (although I conceded to him redeeming himself) but I take that back.
I do hope he ultimately brings the demise of the Callahan legacy. I want to see him hit rock bottom. I want to see him broken. I want to see everything he thought he loved destroyed. I want to see him do a walk of shame in front of the entire Callahan clan; I want him to feel their utter disappointment in who he actually is.
It was cool when I thought he was holding the world on his shoulders, I thought he was under appreciated and deserved recognition. To find out now it’s all due to his secret lover, calliope?.. well.. He went from under appreciated for his ‘sacrifices’ to- an extremely selfish loner who isn’t helping the family- he’s using them.
EVERYTHING the Callahan’s stand for— no, every driving force behind the Callahan’s moves is *for* the family. Not Ethan’s. He’s playing and using the people who love him to **get back at them** and to get some pussy.
No wonder he’s an outcast of the fam. He put and keeps himself there. None of his actions are genuine. He’s fake. Through and through.
I’ll see how it turns out, but this isn’t the same shit I fell in love with.

I remain unconvinced. I tried to be trusting, and at the end of the day if the author is happy with where she took the story, then *slow clap* for her.
If someone is willing to refund my money for book one, then I will happily give this book five stars, but since this book essentially turns that one into a huge pointless joke, I’m giving this a DFC . As in I don’t fucking care to read anymore books that could possibly end up being pointless.

Calliope Callahan is a crazy person and is the only person fit to be Melody's daughter in law I actually don't give a shit. She's the only one good enough to be daughter in law no matter how psychopathic. Not Ivy and most definitely not Klarissa. I'm suprised she had the patience and didn't kill Ivy straight away.
I can't believe they set Ivy up just to kill her and Ethan didn't love her at all in the first place even if he did get attached. Also I realised Calli was the woman who gave Ethan the patch. I'm angry for Ivy because she really did love him and yet every single thing he felt for her wasn't real

I love Melody, Liam is still lowkey underestimating her smh
Now, Ethan, THIS is a good book worthy of him. I skipped the first book about him because Ivy sounded lame and I didn't want to put myself through all that.
