3.5*? i think? it's very hard to rate this one as i didn't dislike it, not enjoyed it as much as i hoped i would. i was mostly just very confused, and was until the last 10 pages or so. i had some suspicions, but still felt very confused. then the ending was, imo, sudden and abrupt. suddenly the facts are laid out for you and the epilogue was such a random "too happy" ending.

Si el libro se hubiera centrado más en la hermana que en Haru, creo que hubiera sido 10 veces mejor aunque debo admitir que no esperé en ningún momento ese giro en la historia (Sin duda, aumentó mucho la puntuación y mejoró mi opinión).
Estuve esperando durante todo el libro que explicaran porqué Haru aparecía, si era realmente de otra dimensión que por alguna extraña razón podía conectars con Eric, si sólo murió o, incluso llegué a pensar que Daniel tomaba el aspecto de Hary para proteger a Eric y debido a la discusión/problema que habían tenido antes de su muerte. Pensé todo esto ya que durante todo el libro creí que se trataría de las segundas oportunidades a través de una "conexión especial" y que en el transcurso de la historia, Eric pudiera seguir adelante, pero solo obtuvimos un: "Eric está bien porque decidió estar bien".
Por otra parte, a pesar de que me dolió mucho lo que pasó con Christian y Nick (en el sentido del abuso que ejercieron hacia Eric y como este solo al final de todo se dió cuenta que no era más que un objeto de entretención para ellos) no siento que fuera relevante para historia; es un punto de quiebre? si, pero pudo haber sido cualquier otra cosa. Es más, podría haber no estado y hubiera estado OK!.
A pesar de todo eso, disfruté la letura, quería saber a dónde iba a parar la historia y cómo terminaría, quizás esperaba un poco más (porque el primer libro de Dustin Thao es dolorosamente hermoso). Pero quizás, como dice el autor en los agradecimientos, es díficil escribir algo donde tengas tantas limitaciones creativas y no puedes desarrollarlo tanto como tu quieres.

This had a super interesting concept. But I think this story would have worked better as a movie. I could see the vision but I don’t think it translated as well on paper (compared to what it could have been on screen).
Also, the title of the book was “When Haru Was Here” but you could have taken Haru out of the story and still have an impact. I don’t think Haru was doing much for the story. I think the main part was Eric grieving the death of his best friend. Like you could have taken out all of Haru’s scenes and assigned them to the best friend (Dylan) instead and it would have been a more cohesive story. Like it would have been more interesting if he had been having visions of his best friend instead of this random guy he met a year ago.

to be so real I didn't enjoy the majority of this book - I loved the last like 30 pages but the rest was meh. the biggest reason was that I didn't find the main character likable at all - I found him very aloof and unlikable.
