(3.5/5) this is one of the best debut books for sure. i loved how the story unfolds, the flowery writing, and the mythology execution here. my only issue was with the characters, they're not really likable and unfortunately it affected how i felt about the story hence i gave it 3.5 stars. also the romance always appeared when i think it wasn't necessary. however, my issue was based on my personal feelings so please do try to read dotmg first bc there might be other aspects people might enjoy!

I like this, I just didnt love this. I had high hopes and there were parts that really had me hooked but I feel like I never got fully invested as i wanted to be. I liked the characters and story line it was just very fast paced and there would be years in between but it read like weeks. Idk like i said i enjoyed this it was nice the story was great, Xinhyin’s a strong character and I love to see her grow, personally like Liwei I definitely would recommend just dont know if i would reread it if it makes sense

ps. I definitely see how it sets you up perfectly for the second book.
