This was an emotional rollercoaster ride that I did not want to get off. I could not put this book down. Bee and Issac will live in my head rent free and I am so excited for the next books!
So I will start of by saying I have only ever read 2 books by Jennifer Hartmann and I LOVED them! So when I saw this was available, I jumped right on it.
The very first chapter hooked me in and I was very invested for the first half of the book. It was very similar to Still Beating in the sense that there's a kidnapping and all that type of trauma of being held captive. I won't go further than that to not spoil anything. Midway through the book though, I did feel it was a little slow for me, but it did pick back up for sure. I loved the story overall though and would love to see more written by them!

Listen I was on a rollercoaster with this one and it’s just what I needed.
Everly is taken captive from her own home one night and finds herself locked in an underground basement for two years. Other than her captors, the only person she can speak to is whoever is being held on the other side of the wall and they tend to die pretty quickly and so do her hopes of escape.
Isaac is a detective who has been thrown off the force for chasing a case too obsessively and because of this he winds up captive in the room next door to Everly.
These two spend weeks getting to know each other, falling for each other and trying to plan an escape.
This was such an intense fast paced read and if you’re in a reading slump I guarantee this is going to be a romance book that is going to wrench you out of it.

They were too attached to each other too soon. I'm not a fan of plot for the sake of smut. It's too shallow

If you want to be emotionally traumatized, you read Jennifer Hartmann. This was a wild roller coaster of a story - wow! The narrators were so good and made the story really come alive in my mind! It’s a longer book but it didn’t feel too long or dragged out (drug out?). The main characters meet when they are both kidnapped by the same black market psycho and held in cells that share a wall. So I’m sure there is a trigger warning list somewhere if you’re a person who likes to read those.

I am so annoyed to be dnfing this at 72%... But I just can't do it anymore.
I could not stand Isaac and just when I thought he was getting better, he would get worse
This just really wasn't what I thought it was going to be or what I wanted...
