It feels like ages since I physically read a book!

I really liked the premise but the execution had some of my least favorite cliches. I also found Isaac to be a bit insufferable.

Oh and I had a massive eyeroll at this quote: While other teenagers my age were listening to Taylor Swift, I was slow dancing in my bedroom to Coldplay
Yeah cause Coldplay is soo underground. #notlikeothergirls

Spoiler I hate it when a character is "dead". I thought it was really lame Jasper wasn't actually dead and it was super obvious. It was also obvious from the first messages we see from Allison that she and Jasper were going to end up together. Okay and obviously Sara isn't dead either which is also lame and predictable.

Love is Blind but make it dark romance. 🤣

These two had me hooked from the moment they met. I’m not sure I’ve read a book that had me thinking so many times that the hero and heroine might not make it out alive. Honestly, my heart was racing at the end of the book thinking something bad might happen. I was SO relieved that they finally got the happy ending they both deserved. The both lost a person they cared for deeply at the hands of the madman who abducted them and both carry trauma, but they were able to find solace in one another and find a way to open themselves to another person again.

This book gave me so many of the same feelings that Still Beating did in that it was so packed with anticipation and angst when so many dark things were happening to the MC’s but then there was tenderness and emotional depth too.

For a while, I felt like this almost went off the rails a bit because I was expecting a sweet reunion and a romantic love to take place once they found each other outside of that place. Instead, after the angst and buildup, they had a passionate and raw reunion that blossomed into a relationship. The relationship wasn’t a typical one but it was what they needed. Two people who fully accepted one another and their flaws or shortcomings. It may not have been what I expected but I ended up loving it all the more because of that.

I think I may just love stories with screwed up storylines of serial killers and characters that have to fight tooth and nail to get out of their grasps and overcome trauma. It may be dark but tell me why it’s SO GOOD.
