Kicking off a new series, Evanovich sticks very close to the style that has served her so well in the Stephanie Plum stories. You could substitute Stephanie for Lizzie and come up with pretty much the same woman. A little klutzy, not quite comfortable in her own skin, but this one has a job. In fact, it's a pretty good job making cupcakes at a store in Salem, Massachusetts. Then, one day, two mysterious men show up. One (Gerwulf Grimoire) is described as your stereotypical vampire but he apparently has the power to generate heat through his hands. The other, Diesel, described as a super-tanned beach bum, makes Lizzie burn.
She discovers that they are all "Unmentionables" with certain powers, hers is to locate things. In the current climate of an overwhelming number of paranormal talents and creatures, having someone be granted such an underwhelming talent was... odd but refreshing. Well, she also makes perfect cupcakes which, IMHO, is much better than being able to move things with your mind or whatever anyway.
Diesel needs her help to gather seven stones, each of which represents one of the seven deadly sins, together, a person could rule the world.
Fast-paced, quirky and a fun read.

it's cute, I'm looking forward to the next adventure. love Evanovich!
This one was just OK for me. I liked Diesel and loved the return of Carl!!! But the rest of the characters fell kind of flat for me. They seemed like Plum knockoffs. Hoping the next one is better, we'll find out soon!!
I did enjoy this book. Author is a great writer, descriptive and funny. I rated it 3 stars based on the hovering over "liked it"
Meh. The story was a great concept but lacked in detail. I never fell in love with the characters and so it became difficult to care about what happened to them...
The repetition in this book was just one of the many reasons I didn't enjoy it. I wasn't a fan of the writing (never read Evanovich before) or the characters. I found myself being incredibly annoyed a majority of the time. Had I not been reading this for a challenge, it would have been a DNF very early on.
Wicked Appetite was an amusing story about a girl that finds out she is an "unmentionable" and gets caught in a search for the gluttony stone with a hot guy and a finger flipping monkey.
Having read Janet Evanovich's stories before, I didn't have especially high standards, but was expecting a fun and easy read (or in this case, listen).
My biggest pet peeves were the number of times people "said" things, rather than "whispered, sighed, replied" or any other form of response. Also, Carl the monkey was a little too overzealous in flipping people the bird.
As I said, the story was cute, and I will probably keep listening to the audio books of the series.

A quick and fun read, Wicked Appetite features Stephanie Plum's between-the-numbers pal Diesel. Diesel and his cousin Gerwulf Grimoire (Wulf for short) are both after a stone, one of seven stones that represent the seven deadly sins, in this case gluttony. But Diesel and Wulf are not on the same side. Both empowered with "unmentionable" skills, they need the assistance of another Unmentionable to find the stone. Lizzy makes the world's best cupcakes, but now discovers she has another skill—she can find what Diesel is looking for.
This is my first Janet Evanovich book. Lighthearted, fun and an easy read. This is just for pure pleasure....if you are looking for a book with meaning, deep characters, etc this is not for you! LOL!
