Wicked Appetite

Lizzy is a baker who makes awesome cupcakes. In walks Diesel, tall and handsome, and her life is turned upside down. She finds out that she is an Unmentionable (not that kind) and Diesel needs her help finding some artifacts to keep his evil cousin from taking over the world. The adventure involves many interesting characters to include a one eyed cat and a monkey.

I've read a lot of reviews that say this one is a lot like the Stephanie Plum series. I did see some similarities, but it was still good. I thought the added character of the monkey was hilarious. It was easy to picture this monkey going everywhere with them and just acting a fool. There's a sequel to this book that I'm definitely going to have to read.

Another fun series by Janet Evanovich. If you love Stephanie Plumb, you will love Lizzy and Diesel. You may even remember a monkey you were introduced to in one of the Plumb books. Lizzy isn't sure what is happening to her, but strange things are happening. Diesel is obviously not human, but she can't help but be drawn to him. What are these new powers that she possesses and why are there people following her? You must read this for laughter and fun and find out what is so special about Lizzy.

Cute and fun, but sometimes too silly. I listened to it and sometimes didn't care for the reader's voice.

I couldn't finish this. Everything was too rush and unbelievable. Blah!

Okay, this was hilarious.

Diesel and Lizzy had some amazing chemistry and I kind of loved how easily he'd send her reeling with his comments. Lizzy's reactions to the Humbugs were hilarious and I think Diesel showed admirable restraint in not giving her what she was asking for each time. I also liked how easily he kind of integrated into her life and then took on Carl. There's clearly a history there that I find myself wanting to know more about.

Lizzy might have freaked a bit, but she definitely took things in stride. I did think it was hilarious how she just accepted both Cat and Carl. And Diesel, although she's still digging in over that which makes things even more hilarious. I liked the fact that while she admitted she didn't want to have to deal with saving the world, she still helped Diesel out. Even when things might have been more on the icky side than not.

Glo and Clara were entertaining too. I loved how Clara didn't really bat an eye at the weird things, was just mostly like "get that out of here so I don't have to explain to customers". Glo seems like a character and I have to wonder if she really had any luck with Ripple's or if that really was just Shirley. And Clara feels like she knows more about things than she's letting on.

All of Janet Evanovich's novels are a hoot but this one really had me giggling at the absurd things that went on. I loved this novel, it was light and easy to read.
The characters were hilarious and the plot was really good. I found it interesting all the way through. Definitely a good read!

Amusing, light, entertaining read. Evanovich has a pretty cool idea centered around the seven deadly sins and her standard funny/clumsy/endearing heroine and the macho man who puts up with her. Oh, and the weird cast of other bizarre characters!

I had completely forgotten the plot of this story...quick reread during summer insomnia. Finished 6/26/12

A lot of time in the car means I need an audio book. This one was perfect. Lot of fluff not much I needed to really concentrate on or pay super close attention too. Silly but entertaining. But probably wouldn't have liked it as much if I had read it for same reasons I liked being able to listen to it.

If you are looking for something totally different than Stephanie Plum, then don't read this, because they are very similar. But, this book reminds me of the days when I started reading SP, before they got very repetitive and old and I got tired of waiting for Steph to pick a guy.

The whole magic thing is fun, and Lizzy doesn't have two guys. Yay. The bakery thing is cool too. I laughed out loud sometimes and that is a very good sign.

I. Love. Carl. So does my brother who only reads books with Carl in them

All in all a fun light read that I ejoyed laughing along too.

One question: Does Evanovitch follow some sort of pattern? Girl with disorganized messed life, meets hot men, is confused by feelings for said men, life is a minor disaster and can't seem to meet normal people. Sidekick is funny. In fact everyone is funny.

Not trying to be rude, I'm curious.

And it doesn't really bother me that much. These are funny.
