This book was a fun little romp, but not quite as good as I was expecting. Janet Evanovich is a favorite author of my mother's & this was the first book I'd read of hers. I thought it would be a good one because I like paranormal romance. It was silly, which is fine & good, but I don't think it came off as funny as Ms. Evanovich meant it to be. Still, I got a couple chuckles out of it & might be willing to read the next in the series to see how Lizzy & Diesel's relationship develops.
This is Evanovich's new series featuring Diesel and the Unmentionables. I had a hard time really getting into the book, but I trudged on.
This book has some quirks similar to the Stephanie Plum series. I enjoyed the laughs and getting to know more about the Unmentionables. Diesel is always nice.

This was the spin off series with Diesel in it from the Stephanie Plum series. it is a bit more magically based which was interesting. The idea of this story is that Diesel enlists the help of a woman named Lizzy to find some charms that lead to the stone for gluttony (one of the seven deadly sins...guessing there will be seven books in this series). His cousin Wulf is also looking for it but with evil intent. The humor in these books is okay but not nearly to the level that I was used to with the Stephanie Plum books. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I didn't go into it with such high expectations for it to be laugh out loud funny.
I was looking forward to reading a new character from Janet Evanovich, though I was a little disappointed to find that she was very much the same. It's a good thing I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum series, so I will continue to read this series as well.
I did enjoy the dabble into the occult and unexplained, which certainly opens up the potential for the series. Wulf, though a character who fits into that category, still seems to be missing something. Maybe that's supposed to make him more mysterious? I'm sure we'll discover more as the series goes on. The other characters were mostly familiar, even Lizzy (the Stephanie-ish character), and the reappearance of Carl, the borderline obscene monkey, was a welcome addition.
A few chuckles were had, and maybe even a few grins. The all-too-familiar sexual tension; Diesel gets around though never seems to get any. As a stand-alone book it falls short, but I have high hopes for the series.

This is the first book in a new series based on the Diesel character from the Between the Number Novels in the Stephanie Plum series. There are seven stones of power, each stone represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Lizzy bakes wonderful cupcakes and unbeknownst to her she can also locate magical objects. One day Diesel shows up, tells her he is here to protect her from the evil Wulf and in return she will help him locate the stones. She now has Diesel living in her house, along with a ninja one-eyed cat and a rude monkey. Those of you who enjoyed Diesel and Carl the Monkey in the previous books will love them here.
entertained by the setting since I lived near there. good for light amusement.
Not one of the Stephanie Plum series, this novel does bring in three characters that were introduced there. Diesel and Carl the monkey join forces with a cupcake baker named Lizzy to track down the bad guy, Wulf. There is a search for some sacred stones that represent the seven deadly sins. this novel focuses on the search for the gluttony stone and leaves thing open for a whole series with each deadly sin being a different novel. If you enjoy Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books, you will enjoy this one as well.
Very similar to the Stephanie Plum series. Besides the fact Diesel is from that series Lizzy seems similar to Stephanie. Often I had to remind myself I wasn't reading a Stephanie Plum book.
It was okay and I kept reading it because I like vampires and demons and werewolves, oh my. But the storyline was weak and underexplained and the magic was just random.
