one of my students was reading this, and recommended it. very cute, very chaotic bisexual main character, and a nice ending.
4.25 stars!
This book was so incredible for so many different reasons.
It’s fun and full of adventure, yes, it has it by the bucketload, but also deals with some deeper issues such as racism, sexism and prejudice against the LGBTQ+ community present in 18th century society that are still alarmingly present in modern times.
In terms of characters, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Monty to begin with, but as time passed I began to understand him and his outlook on life and IT’S JUST SO HEARTBREAKING OK?
Percy is just adorable. Like seriously. I just want to wrap him up and protect him forever. Actually, I want to protect both of them.
Felicity is just such a badass and I loved her character development, looking forward to seeing more of this in the future!
Also, Scipio is great (though it’ll take a while until we meet him)
In short, I adored this cast of diverse and incredible characters, and on a more personal level, I especially want to thank Mackenzi Lee for her honest portrayal of what it’s like to live with epilepsy, and with people that have it. As an epileptic myself, this meant the world to me ❤️
The only issue for me was that I found the plot a little slow at the beginning, but it soon picked up (and didn’t let up after that!)
Overall: a rip-roaring adventure with plenty of diversity and a heartwarming romance.

This book probably had some of the best romantic tension I’ve ever read. I didn’t think a book could literally make me swoon, but here we are. There’s so much electrified hand grazing, knee nudging, and “accidental” touching that I thought I might just die from the longing. Those subtle, intimate moments between Percy and Henry hit way harder than most spicy novels. Honestly? Spice without tension, connection, or buildup just ends up weak, shallow, and kind of cringe.
But while the romance had me by the throat (in the best way), the plot… not so much. It felt forced. The motivations behind their whole misadventure didn’t quite land for me. It was chaotic fun, but the stakes felt a bit too wobbly to hold up.
If I could rewrite it, I’d 100% gobble up 300 pages of Henry and Percy pining. When you’ve got that much chemistry, who even needs plot?
I did really enjoy this though...and would absolutely recommend it. Come for the yearning. Stay for the yearning. Maybe forget about the rest.

This book was way more fun than I expected it to be~
The main character's voice was so distinctive. And I loved that he wasn't as shallow as he initially appeared... he was surprisingly complex
While their adventure was implausible and relied quite a bit on luck, it was still fast paced and fun and I am looking forward to listening to the sequel/companion novel.
One question though.... If Percy was trying to hide his epilepsy, then why did he agree to go on this super long tour of Europe where he'd be in close proximity to Monty and would have no way to hide his epileptic episodes?? Did he honestly think that would go well...?
