Funny, a truly extreme pulp detective novel. Lacking some depth needed for a good satire. Strange and surreal at times with real impending death. And good poetic moments when Bukowski slipped through the cracks in Nicky Blaine.

Creo que tenía muy altas expectativas de Bukowski que sinceramente quedaron lejos de verse cumplidas. No sé si es por el estilo o la trama de esta obra en particular, pero esperaba algo más oscuro de su parte.
Not the worst novel I have read by Charles Bukowski, but not the best either.
It is surrealistic and very bizzare, and I did not find it that entertaining. Perhaps if you really enjoy Bukowski's unique way of writing you might find it amusing, but personally I felt bored and was rather unimpressed.
The story is rather ridiculous and seemed more like something that would spring from a child's imagination, than a grown-up and very accomplished writer.

Hmm...Lots of silliness and random events, punctuated by brief moments of insight, followed by bursts of violence and senselessness. Not really my style, but I can see the appeal it could hold for others.

I'm giving it 2 stars because there are some snippets that are worth saving - insights that make me think that the guy had some talent. But he was also hugely overrated as a novelist, and apart from those good bits, this book was not for me. I'm very glad it was short....
