I felt the YA angle a little more on this one, which isn't inherently a bad thing, just took me out of the story a bit. I continue to appreciate the ways that Atwater weaves in the stories of non-titled individuals in this series, and there's an incredible union/community flare to this story that I wish was in more HistRoms. However, her pacing felt less smooth in this novel than the previous in the series.

Don't remember much, honestly, but I remember having a blast! And isn't that all that matters? Oh, and it wasn't as good as the first.

Not quite as good as the first one, but I found Lord Blackthorn a lot more enjoyable as a character than I had initially expected!
Also the romance was surprisingly sweet in the end.
A great read if you want something lighthearted with Fae :)

Edit 02/2024: Bumping this up to 5 stars after a year full of reading all kinds of books and finishing a reread of this one. It truly is such a wholesome experience that, despite a few situations, the whole thing truly reads like a whimsical fairytale. And I found it all so funny and cute, I think it does deserve the full score after all. :)

I really liked Lord Blackthorn and Euphemia, and I appreciated the culmination of the plot, but I did not find it nearly as delightful as I found Half a Soul. The beginning and middle lost my interest at times, and the romance was not as well developed as it was in the first book. It was by no means bad, but I could not help comparing it to the first book.
