I love this movie, but had never read the book. While I was pregnant I decided to get it, and it's the first big story I've read my baby girl. Started before she was a month old, just going a chapter or two at a time. So happy to carry this story through the generations and hopefully inspire my little one to become life-long reader, as its one of my greatest pure joys.

It was interesting to actually read the original story and compare it to the movie. I would say that the movie does a good job of streamlining the story to be less complicated. It was also pretty neat to get more background on the characters like the reason behind the Tin Man becoming a Tin Man.

If only I had a pair of silver slippers to make me away... An adorable little read that is really quite simple. No wonder it became a phenomenon and a classic movie musical. I just wish they didn't cut so much out of the movie. Well that's the Hollywood way. I'm glad this still sparkles after all this time.
